The VRC joined forces with the SVA Archives to make available on SVA Image Library over 180 digital images from the SVA Subway Poster campaign, a public art project that takes place across New York City subway platforms to attract new students with thought-provoking and eye-catching advertisements. The campaign kicked off in the mid-1950s, as SVA recognized the need for alternative marketing strategies and hence commissioned practicing professionals part of SVA Faculty to make posters that not only explore what it means to be an artist but also to enhance their own artistic voice. Legendary participatory artists include Milton Glaser, Ivan Chermayeff, Louise Fili, George Tscherny, Steven Heller, Stefan Sagmeister, Paula Scher and so many more, all of whom offer a glimpse of the history along with the renowned collective talent of the College.
