R.I.P. to the groundbreaking and extremely influential feminist artist Carolee Schneemann (1939-2019) whose multidisciplinary work - throughout the course of her 60-year career - boldly challenged social conventions and notions surrounding sexuality and gender. Although she was best known for her performance, video, and body art, she worked in installation, photography, and considered herself to be first and foremost a painter. SVA Library has a variety of resources on and by Carolee that we encourage you to check out in memory of her.
