Just in time for Women's History Month, the VRC has added 45 images to SVA Image Library (MDID) from "Pipilotti Rist: Pixel Forest," the fully illustrated catalogue accompanying the recent widely acclaimed exhibition of the same title. The first comprehensive New York survey of the work of Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist, the exhibition featured pieces spanning the artist's entire career, from her early 1980s videos, investigating the representation of the female body in pop culture, to her newer expansive, immersive and dreamlike multimedia installations.
Four film stills laid out vertically from Rist’s video "Pour Your Body Out (7354 Cubic Meters)" from 2008, all depicting oversaturated, mirrored images of the artist and her body.Close-up installation view of Rist’s "Cape Cod Chandelier," from 2011, consisting of hanging underwear.Film still of "Ever is Over All," from 1997, a two-channel video and sound installation, showing a woman in a blue dress laughing and smashing in car windows.Installation view of Rist’s "Pixelwald (Pixel Forest)," in 2016 at the New Museum, NY, consisting of hundreds of hanging LED lights that change color, and a media player with a projection in the background.
